Erm, that is to say, I enjoyed last night's episode of House. I haven't got many things to say aside from - shock, horror - grumpy pessimist Squash actually did not hate this!
(Although with the lupus thing - two separate people on my flist have already said "Jesus Christ, the lupus thing should have been saved for the finale!", which is actually quite true. But still, come on. I laughed.)
Thirteen's secret has finally been revealed! I know last week, a lot of people were complaining that Tauber's background (cheating on his wife, still being "in love" with her, etc.) is boringly similar to Wilson, and I can't help but feel as if Thirteen's big ole' albatross is boringly like Cameron's HIV scare. Both might have a life-threatening disease, both were (are) too scared to take a test to find out. And House covertly got DNA samples off both to sate his curiosity. Get some new material, writers!
Oh wait, they can't. They're on strike.
I thought it was cool, though. Somebody earlier, I don't remember who, pointed out that it explains Thirteen's 'I-don't-care-about-anything' attitude, and her distancing herself from others. That's cool. Problem is, I can't really see where the show is going to go from there in terms of developing her - like, where do they go from there? I really think we need to have like, a circle or something - and pray the writers go somewhere really cool with Thirteen. She's a solid character - sassy, doesn't take shit, and seems fairly well-adjusted aside from the whole Huntington's thing, so. PLEASE WRITERS. Do this and it might actually redeem the overwhelming hatred I had for season three, what a load of shit.
Although I found it weird that House tossed away Thirteen's results without looking at them, what is that about? House grew a conscience? What, next thing you'll be telling me is that House has a heart, that he has the ability to ~*~*love*~*~ and be kind and shit rainbows and butterflies and go riding on a unicorn with Cameron into the sunset. NOT REALLY, NO. But seriously, what was that all about?
I'm finally beginning to dig Kutner, and Tauber - they are actually developing personalities! I like Kutner for more reasons than accidentally setting his patient on fire while defibrillating him!! Awesome. And Tauber's not a dick anymore!! Three cheers!
Although Cole sneakily trying to get Kutner canned, hhhhhhhwhaaaaaat. That was a bullshit subplot, Cole and Kutner's friendship was adorable, and the whole "House is super rebellious and tries to do stupid shit like steal Cuddy's underwear oh my!" is getting decidedly tired. Who remembers the days when House did weird shit like that for the benefit of his patients instead of just for the hell of it? I miss somewhat-altruistic-even-though-he'd-nev
It would have been much nicer to let him leave without such a scandal, you know - similar to what happened to Doctor Without Borders. Let us think he's a nice guy, which he was! - up until he tried to get Kutner fired. Downgrade, dude.
Here is something I said to Steph earlier but in more inane terms: I really think Cutthroat Bitch's character is being wasted and that's sad. She's got so much potential - like, crazy thang, what made you this way? I want to know why she won't give House those fucking shoes betch, and while she's really one dimensional now, she'd be a lot more likeable once we found out some backstory about her. Once again: please, writers? Cherries and sugar on top?
Why did House have samples of Wilson's blood? Awesome, is he a vampire!? Speaking of weird things about House: HUGH LAURIE HAS EVIDENTLY FORGOTTEN THAT HOUSE IS A FUCKING CRIPPLE. House should not be able to walk up stairs, he should not be able to bloody well RIDE A SCOOTER. Not that it pisses me off that much, I'm not what you would call observant but I know it drives a lot of people up the wall, this huge continuity problem.
I really liked this PoTW, best we've had in ages. Better than most in season three, if memory serves me correctly. MAGICIAN. And the card tricks, and the British accent, oh god.
Andandand: "House, take off your shirt." "You first." Um, yes please?
So I whined a lot in this entry, but mostly it's because it's what I do best and this episode was actually quite good. Plus I haven't rewatched it, can't be aaaaaarsed! Grade: A-.
Wait, hang on - Channel Ten in Australia advertised this as the ~~season finale~~, so I assumed there wouldn't be any more episodes coming. But from what I've been reading on the internets, there are a few left. . ? Whatever.
And guess who just accidentally-on-purpose clicked on a spoiler link and know who's going to be on the final team? OH GOD WHY DID I DO THAT. No, but out of curiosity: let's say we got back the first forty. Who would you have picked out of them to make up the team?
Also, The Chaser Decides was particularly amazing. I wish it were election time all the time, the political satire is by far what the boys do best.
